Helping Hands Helping at Home
Lorrie Flem has done it again. Lorrie's gentle insight, and heart for family, have come together again to give us a little gem of a book for guiding our children in the home. It's all about equipping. That's a word that seems to have fallen out of our general vocabulary, but it needs to be firmly in place.
I know for a while, I'd gotten to the point where it was easier to "do it myself" rather than ask my children to help with something. It was during one of those moments, hunched over a dirty toilet that I realized I wasn't helping my kids, but enabling them to be lazy and attitudinal. That's just me, but that is how it felt. One of our ministers has been talking about equipping of late, and it all finally fell into place with Lorrie's book. I wasn't equipping my kids and that's a disservice to them and more importantly to God. Anyway, I'd received Lorrie's book in an email and set it aside to read for the review. Well! I ran to it, read it straight through (it's only 20+ pages) and began implementing her ideas right away!
What a joy! What a delight! Lorrie takes the ideas that true equipping shows us and moves you along. The idea is simple and effective: They watch. They help. You watch. You help. Done! It's the idea of mentoring on every level in our lives and all too often we skim over parts, or skip them all together and wind up with more of a mess than when we started. Thankfully, there is grace!
You'll find Lorrie's book, Helping Hands at Home, here at Amazon http://tinyurl.com/czta6g8 for just 99 cents! Yep, you read that right, 99 cents. You can't beat the price for the eternal encouragement this book provides. And, speaking of Eternal Encouragement, you can hop on over to Lorrie's website and find more treasures on home, family, child training and much more at

I love that you share about equipping and mentoring our children! That is exactly what we are to be doing, yet it seems easier to allow them to be lazy. That is purely selfish and not helping them in the least. Very nicely done review!
